5 months old

I haven't had a chance to blog on the current happenings of Brady.

Here is what you missed:

Brady started eating pureed food last week. We tried bananas the first day. He was very natural with the spoon - went right for it, but was weirded out by the flavor and texture of pureed bananas. Here are some blurry photos of the event.

Thursday and Friday nights, he slept 4 hours at a time. YES! However, last night we were back to waking up every hour. AND it was before an early morning for me. I had to leave for BG at 7:30 am. This is much earlier than the usual 10:30 or 11:30 am. zzzzzzzzzzz.

Okay, I'm too tired to finish this. More later...

Until then, more fun pics:

Matt didn't know I was taking his picture, but Brady sure did!! HA!

Yes, we still need to take our tree down. Give me a break, I'm a new mom.
This week, I promise.

My Great Grandma, Marie Lenz

My mom's grandma (on the far left)

Aren't these great?

Here are my Great, Great, Great Grandparents (?), Johann Carl Friedrich Trapp and Sophia Dorothea Asmus. According to my mom, this is their wedding picture. They got married in Germany and according to Google, they came over here separately. Him in 1867 and her in 1868. She was naturalized, he was not.

Brady Laughing at Daddy

First Week Back to Work

I am so glad the first week of classes are over. I'm lucky to have smaller classes, and so far I like the students. My Tuesday nights aren't going to be so bad (considering it's such a looong day). My night class is in the computer lab in one of the dorms and all the students know each other, so it's a little more laid back.

That night, the best part was coming home to Brady. I walked in the door and he looked at me with surprise and excitement (he was in his exersaucer, of course). I grabbed him and he hugged me so tight! It was the biggest and best hug of my life. We spent the rest of the night laughing and cuddling. So great.

I'm not gonna lie, this may have been the toughest week of my life. (I keep comparing it to when I took my PhD exams. Is this week tougher than that hellish week? Maybe. And that's the first time I can say that).

By Friday, things were a little easier, because I knew that I could look forward to a long weekend.

Today we took Brady swimming for the first time. The YMCA has a kiddy pool with water falls and a slide. I sat with him in the shallow part of the pool (less than a foot deep - I'm still nervous). He liked it. I can't say he loved it, but he soaked it all in. He watched all the kids and moved his feet around in the water.  As we were leaving the Y, he was fast asleep.

It was a good day.

Here are a few pics from the week...

Brady and his friends at the sitter's. Brady is the little guy in the top left - of course, sitting sideways in the Bumbo seat.

First day back

Today wasn't too bad. It went really quick. I have back to back classes with only a 10 minute break in between. Tomorrow is my long day with a 5 hour break in between my two classes. Ugh!

Pictures from Brady's day at the sitter...

And he's now eating like a pig! Tonight is the first night he had rice cereal in his bottle. He's just a piggie.

Back to work

Tomorrow is my first day back to work - full time.

Tuesdays are my longest days. I will be away from home for 11 hours. 11 HOURS! Other days, just 4. And at least I get summers off. I know most parents have to be away from their little ones at least 8 hours a day. I feel for them. This is gonna be tough.

Even though I love my job, here's what I will be missing...

This cute face.

These big, blue eyes.

This smile.

This cute little guy.
