Summer Road Trip 2013

We were SO SICK of the constant rain and being stuck inside, that we decided to move our road trip up a few days. We were at the pool at 1pm, which is when it opens, and got 5 minutes in before the thunder and lightening started! So we made the decision, and packed up in less than an hour and a half, and started to drive west for Colorado.

Below are a few photographs I have chosen from each major stop. We were gone 8 days and drove from Michigan to Colorado. Lots of driving every day and my almost 2 year old did excellent!

Indianapolis, IN - ate at Edward's Drive-In

(iphone photo below)

St. Louis, MO - (I would love to move here, if given the chance)

I love the color of these flowers

Yoko Ono's Wishing Tree Exhibit, at the St. Louis Museum of Art

Brady and I added our own wish(es)...

At the St. Louis Zoo (one of the best I've been to)

Arrow Rock, MO (small town)

Tallgrass Prairie, in Kansas

Examining the rocks, per usual

Making sure Mommy is following, as always

Topeka, KS - Brown vs. Board of Education (just an inkling of the powerful and emotional exhibit you can view here)

Burger Joint in Kansas

Fort Larned, in Larned, KS - It was HOT (108 degrees!), so not many photos, and not gonna share any on my blog.

Somewhere in Colorado

Bent's Old Fort, near La Junta, CO

Lovin' the kitty

Great Sand Dunes in Colorado

Singing...

Florrisant Fossil Beds in Colorado

Rare smile while I take his picture

What? Another smile?

Petrified OLD (approx 34 million years old) redwood tree stump

1-mile walk

yes, I'm following you!

LOVE this face

He walked, ran, and pushed the stroller for the entire 1 mile trail. And in the thin, Colorado air.

Not the best listener :) but he's not even 2

Buffalo Bill Ranch in Nebraska

Not sure what they are doing

Waiting for B to finish digging in the dirt

Crane National Wildlife Preserve (Iowa, I think). We needed to stop somewhere so Brady could burn some energy. It was HOT here, too.

...but that didn't stop him from running.

This is what we do most of the time. Yell "Brady get back here!"

When he doesn't want to leave, he picks up a stick and digs in the dirt. Even if it's 90-100 degrees! You may be saying "why don't you just pick him up and move him?" Do you realize how heavy this kid is? If he doesn't want to go, there is no moving him. I am no weakling either. He will raise his arms so you can't lift and hold him and he'll make himself even heavier somehow. Stubborn?

Here, he knows! :)
But he sure is fun.
